Headlight Failure

I NEED HELP!! I recently used the advice on the forum and installed a Dakota Digital speedo (which I love). After installation, I noticed the high beam indicator light on the speedo display was flickering and I had no headlight whatsoever (no low or high beam). Both low and high beam fault indicator LED lights on the EHC are flashing red. I tried a brand new bulb and that did not fix the problem. Anyone have ideas on this one? Where should I start looking for the problem? All your input will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!!

possibly the bulb plug is damaged. the plastic plug tend to melt with overload. did you see any burnt areas on the plug.

Yeah I checked the plug and it looked fine.... It actually looked in really good shape (no dirt, debris, etc.). Could it be in my hi/lo beam switch?

Yeah I plan to remove the speedo this afternoon and look for a ground... Just for my own knowledge, if the problem is a ground issue and I fix the ground, will the EHC trouble lights reset themselves or do I have to hook up a computer to reset? This whole EHC thing is WAY over my head! Thanks for all the advice! Keep it coming PLEASE!

The EHC does a great job of managing itself......................
"Until it goes bad"

So, Yes, the EHC should reset itself once you resolve the issue.
It could be your hi lo beam switch, with electrical it could be just about anything in the system. But I would start with what was done last and work from there.

I have the same thing going on with my bike right now. Trying to get the dang beauty ring off the bucket is a Mother Focker! (yes I backed out the set screws)

But before I start tearing stuff up on the beauty ring it would be nice to know what fixed the issue??????

FYI it was the bulb! No more fault on the EHC or blinking high beam indicator on the speedo.

I'm having a similar problem.. you said it was your bulb but originally you said you tried a new bulb and that didn't fix the problem? How was it the bulb then? thanks

Any other suggestions? I have swapped the bulb several times. I’ve pulled the new gauge to check if that caused and issues. I’m at my end. And I guess that’s why I’m gonna try to bring this thread back to life

Check the headlight harness, mine melted and caused all kinds of electrical issues.

Not melted. I have no power on the yellow wire. Which when I look at the manual goes to the ehc. I’m thinking if there’s an issue with the ehc I’d be having issues with other things.
