need some info please, inside the headlight bucket there are three wires, the black one is "coiled" up, what& why and can this be cut out or is it needed, putting in the ceramic plug and cut it out and now i am thinking i saw some where that it was there to aid in cooling or something along that line, thanks for any input:cheers:

I got a new bucket and cross head light from wsw . Think the coiled up wire was a try from big dog to fix a issue you will be ok if you left it in! No worries

Looking forward to retirement
I lost my head light back in October coming back from the BOO Festival in Jefferson TX last year. NOT COOL at 11:00pm. I eased next to my best friend on his heritage and we road side by side with me on the outside of the lane all the way back. Anyway, the next day I took my bucket apart and found the 8 foot coil loop melted right by my light plug. I bought a new ciramic plug and cut the 8foot loop out. I have ridden 2000 -2500 miles this winter with the coil removed and so far KNOCK on wood NO PROBLEM!

plug and play,, unplug your 3-way plug, take bulb out of glass, install new bulb in glass that is connected to the ballast, plug ballast into the 3 way coming from bike side,,pretty simple,,i did notice this weekend that after 4000 miles of bouncing aroung in the bucket the ballast is rubbing the inside of the bucket and i imagine eventually will eat through, the ballast housing is also wearing a flat spot,( see in pic looks grey) i dont know if these can be mounted becouse of the heat issue, someone else can chime in on this? i am attaching a pic as i have it out now, as you can see a big ballast and a 3-way plug, all fits in my bucket pretty easily, pretty simple even a cave man could do it,,lol
