Headlamp assembly missing parts?

My headlight was spinning around in the housing when I first got the bike this year brand new. This has happened twice and the service shop fixed/adjusted at my 500 & 3000 service. Today I noticed the lamp very loose again so I pulled it apart myself. I would have taken it to the service center but it is an hour away. According to the service manual looks like I am missing the 2 O-rings in front of the lamp (21) and the back rubber ring (26). Does anyone know if these are truly missing for the 08 pitbull I assume so but not sure? Also I noticed some threads talking about a tool for specifically removing the threaded ring (22) is someone on BDB still selling that tool? I was able to remove pretty easily but getting that ring back in is not happening:bang: and I don't want to damage anything trying to Rube Goldberg it.

The shop seems to get it tightened up but inevitably it comes loose. Could the missing o-rings have anything to do with the headlight coming loose?

Any who your input, as always, is much appreciated.

Nope those seals are to keep moisture out. What prevents the rings from loosening is the allen head set screw #28 in the bottom of the bucket. You should not have to mess with #29 no reason too!

What's appears to be happening though is that the back ring that is held by #29 is coming loose as well. I can reset the back threaded ring but just can't tighten down the front threaded ring (#22) need a tool. The #28 set screw is for the bezel. It's odd that all of the rubber is missing

Some members use a phillips screw driver and a mallet to tighten and loosen that ring (#22). Just don't whack it too hard or you will end up tweeking the assembly. There is a special tool, but good luck in getting one. I had to take my bucket to the local service center and they took it off for me. I ended up just buying an adure light assy for my bike. No more threaded rings. By the way my assembly didn't have the #21 o-rings either and if you look at the tread below, it looks like Gas Man didn't either...

They must have run out of rubber parts when assembling the 08's. Mine was the same way. Missing the o-rings and the rubber gasket. I ended up making my own from plastic. It works, but the rubber would be better. Good luck trying to get them from BDM.
