Looks like I'll be accepting a job near RAF Lakenheath and would like to bring my 08 Pitbull. Anybody have current info on what needs to be added/changed on the bike to license/register in England?

Thx.

length of stay will determine whether or not it is worth it. there's a list of members in the UK on here somewhere that should be able to give you whole list of things and a pretty close estimate to have it done. i'm sure franco will put it up shortly.

Look Bill is 50% right.
Most of the food is good, stay away from curries (Masks the flavour of rancid meat!).
Fish and chips (see fries) are good.
Lamb and veal is exellent and so is the vegies.
The beer on the other hand is an aquired taste.
6 week old dishwashing water springes to mind and at room temperature, so find an Aussie bar and drink there, at least the beer is cold and palatable.
The roads amaizing, which is opposite the weather, dull, miserable, damp and thats just summer.
As for your bike...........................Whoo knows.............but have fun.

I spent 30 days there back in 1980, what a noisey freaking place that was, F111 aircraft.
I was stationed at Bentwaters/Woodbridge ( Ipswich) we had A-10's, nice and quite.
You havent lived until you ride a motorcycle in January-February at night, freezing ass rain, both feet down and squirrelly the whole way. Fun Fun Fun

Right, i have taken a look on the HM Customs website and from what i can gather, you can use the vehicle over here for 6 months without making any changes or paying any duties as long as the vehicle is registered and taxed in its home country. After the 6 month period, if you are still here, i think you may have to apply for a UK registration plate, although i am not 100% certain of this as last night when i was looking i am sure i found a section where it said it can be used for the duration of your stay if you are on a temporary assignment. I had a few beers last night to be fair and i can't find that bit today so i will put the link in here and you can read through it. Good luck though as it has been boring me to tears. You will need to complete a form C110 for Customs relief before importing and you will find a pdf of this on the website. Here is the link www.gov.uk/importing-vehicles-into-the-uk/temporary-imports
If there is anything else i can help you with, let me know.

You're welcome and don't let those other guys scare you with their bad weather stories, we have had 6 days of sunshine so far this year and we are only at the end of June.

Hi Terry,

Sorry for not responding sooner, haven't been on the forum for a while.

If you have any questions about importing a bike into the UK may I suggest you contact Peter Jordan at JRJ Customs here in the UK. Peter is a member of this forum and a K9 owner and he imported my Wolf for me last year and did a brilliant job of it, I can highly recommend him. His website is here: JRJ Custom Services - Car & Bike importers, Sales, Servicing & Legalisation experts
