i was in the garage today puttin back together my bike without any type disasters until the very last part..the right rear signal/marker lamp that is mounted on the swingarm..i will try to explain this without pics and if i need to i will go take pics
#1 when reinstalling signal lamp,i was sending the wires through the housing and they then snap into a plastic coupler which then plugs into the circuit board(with me so far)anyway one of the ends of the wires broke off and it is a special end which allows it to snap into this plastic coupler so without the end it dont stay in the coupler...so i need the specific wire ends for our bikes...where do i get them???not to down on electrical stuff...
#2 the circuit board inside the marker light housing which has all the leds on it has a tab on it that locks the plastic wire coupler onto it so that the wiring will stay connected broke off the circuit board..so now i also need the led lighting that is inside the actual chrome metal housing for the signal lamp....can i just buy this piece??and if so where????? all help will greatly be appreciated if you need me to snap some pics i will.....................

jimizee,

I had one of the puck LED lights go out awhile back and was able to get it from my local BD dealer (Full House in Winchester VA) Hell they even had it in stock-do not recall the actuall cost but for some reason $60 range sounds familar.

Also they had a selection of the electrical connectors and even various J Pins to on the wire and into the connector. If you have no luck in your area, let me know and I will check with FH if you give me details and see what they got and specifics.

So you not only broke the wire connector but also the plastic connector on the back of the LED board???

gas you are correct, brokem up i did...but important matter of the detail was that all in all no paint was harmed in this event.....fiber are you tellin me that the metal ends on the wires that slip into the plastic connectors are called j-pins??????and all i would need to request from my local dealer would be the infamous j-pins for the rear signal lite??????and would i also be right in callin the other thing the LED circuit board?????i will call my local dealer tommorrow mornin and if they dont have any of this stuff i will call full house, believe it or not that is where i have been ordering some stuff online and having it shipped over the winter, only because everyone speaks so highly of them

jimizee,

Not sure if the connector itself is called the J-pins or not, but unless my terminology is wrong the metal silver pieces that connect to the wire and slip into the connector are. There is numerous small sizes and I had to replace one on the horn connector one day after I was doing some work.

I may even have some left over, I will check. As far as I know the plastic connector that the pins with wire go into are called -Hell I don't know-Plastic Connectors, but the LED puck for the signals lights are what they called pucks. There is different ones so make sure you tell them what year and for which light.

I may head over that way tommorow and check on the my bike and say hello. Would you like me to see what I can find out. Hell you may get lucky and the may have one in the junk pile from a wrecked bike (I have gotten some bits and pieces that way).

If you could send a picture it will help BTW.

Also if you basically broke the clip that keeps them in place but it would still work, you could always Super Glue the plastic connector together until you get the new ones. Just a thought

This the type of LED you looking for?

You mean you broke on of these.

Those go into this clip

That hooks to this clip on the LED

I'm not 100% sure... I don't think they are the same as the backbone connectors...are they?

GasMan,

Not sure if they are not, but when I was at the dealer he had all kinds of them as well as the metal parts. I would not be surprised if FH did not have exactly what he needs in stock.

I know they are similar... but I swear I thought the pins on these LEDs were different.

Backbone pins...

I bet ohmster could say if they were the same.

I done the same thing. I have some of the pins you need. Got them from Nelson. I have a few extra, PM your address and I'll send you a couple. As for the broken clip on the LED board all I did was use silicone glue and put back together and let it sit overnight. I now have over 1000 miles on the fix and no problems.

I am pretty sure that there is more than a couple of different size pins for the dealer had a whole kit and the ones I change for the horn button were really tiny.

Regardless Mickey may have the right ones and I will check with dealer tomorrow.

Does sound like the silicon fix for the connection would be quick and easy and probably long term and could save some dead presidents for sure.
