I think I want to cancel my ext warranty to do some major mods which would void it anyway.
Has anyone received their money back on one of these?

Thanks

If the extended warranty is a tire to tire warranty, I'd keep it. If you do major mods (I'm guessing engine work) and your primary starts leaking they have to PROVE your mods caused the malfunction....or your turn signals take a crap...etc. etc.

If the bikes paid off they will pro rate it and send you a refund. If you still owe on the bike they will still pro rate it and take it off your balance.

How do you go about canceling it?

Wouldn't all of this be in the paperwork? I'm not discounting the thread, just wondering... maybe somebody can look it up, even if its an old expired warrenty..I'm sure they are all pretty close.

All you have to do is call the company that is providing the warranty and sometimes they want a letter as well. I've done this with several of my Harleys is was a scam. The dealer would sell you the warranty to get you a lower interest rate maybe 1/2% or so. Then after the sale I would call and cancel the warranty. I would maybe lose $50 but the lower than prime interest rate made up for it.

My dealer never even offered an extended warranty .. is it from BDM or a third party? how much? and is it fender-to-fender including tires, brake pads ..etc.? or all but the non-wear stuff? phew! last question, is it worth it? I ride about 5K a year and take exceptional care of my bikes and cars with lots of preventative maintenance (I 've done or will do all the electrical prevention how-to's ..etc.). Thanks Again (Randy)

You would think so but after calling the warranty company after the required 60 day waiting period I found out the dealer never submitted any paper work. I still have no paper work. It's been several months since I purchased and nothing.
The warranty is supposed to provide road side assistance including running out of gas. My warranty is through extreme guard which I have seen mentioned on here as one of the better companies.
My dealer is less than marginal so I'm not thrilled about calling them back again.
This may be a common practice since my friend recently bought a AIH and the ext warranty and he still has nothing

I'm not sure about Big Dog warranties, but on my Harley, I waited the 3 years and never had a claim. I requested my money back and got the entire amount refunded, since I never claimed a warranty item.

If BDM has the same arrangement, I'd wait the time out and get the refund. If there is no refund, then the choice is yours.

I never had a BDM warranty, because I bought my chopper used and it was already off warranty.

TCAL, I recently tried to cancel my extremgaurd warranty. I called them and they told me to write a letter telling them when and why.. It has been 9 months and still haven't seen the money or any reply from them. My bike was totaled and it was only a year old!!
