Harley rider dumps his passenger and she knocks my ridgeback over

well a black cloud came my way a couple of weeks ago when my son and I decided to stop at our favorite watering hole on a Sunday ride. We were sitting at the bar having a cold one when a couple walk in and asked who owns the blue chopper. Wasn't taken back by the inquiry because it's usually followed by a "nice bike" comment. This time it was "hey can you come outside for a minute?" Seems that the guy was parked beside me and dumped his bike as he was pulling out. His lady fell into the front wheel of my bike knocking it over onto the curb.

The upside to the story is that the damage was limited to bolt on stuff except for paint damage to the frame near the axle nut cover... that I wasn't parked close to my son's ridgeback ...and that there are still honest people in this world that take responsibility for their screw ups. Although, had they taken off, it was all captured on the outside video surveillance.

My attempts to upload the video were in vain due to lack of skill. Just thought I would share my misfortunate or fortunate experience....I'm not really sure how to categorize it!

I am glad to hear that you're bike wasn't damaged too badly. I have seen this several times where guys loose control of those big heavy baggers and drop them in a parking lot.

Glad they stopped and damage was not terrible ! My little bro drives for a living local and he stopped at a truck stop to grab something to eat and a road driver backed all over the front of his truck and had every intention of leaving. Another driver saw it and stopped him from leaving. The new cameras they had in the truck caught everything including the drivers lic plate #. My little bro caught no grief from it.

Is he going to pay for the damage?
I once was selling a bike. The guy came and wanted to take it for a ride. Going out of my long driveway he floors it and dumps the bike. $2k worth of damage because it spun around in the gravel as well as hitting the ground hard. He gets off and says sorry. He then starts back to his car. I tell him it's your bike now bro. He says I don't want a bike I can't ride and gets in his car and leaves. I got his licence plate # and called the cops.
They came and said there was nothing they could do it happened on my property and it was a civil matter. To get a lawyer would have cost more than the repairs.
Now I tell them if you want to ride it give me the money first. If you damage it, it's your bike. If you don't want it and bring it back like you took it I'll give you your money back. I give them the signed title to put in their pocket and say You have 30 minutes to make a decision.
At least the guy was honest enough to come in and let you know.

Been there done that, I just had a new fender and paint on the BBC and I had a guy hit my rear fender at the time I didn't see any damage. Later I see the paint is cracked..
