Welcome to the site.
You can go with the HD Evo motor , it will bolt right up .
Dependable , inexpensive ,alot of parts avalible for it . NO COMPRESSION RELEASE NEEDED ! Lets face it - these bikes don't handel the best . Great in a straight line : ).
Do you really need all that horse power ? Harley motor would do just fine.
You will need to check into transmissions though. Right side drive .
Baker ,ultima,Road max .
Do you have a title ? Or are you going to be applying for a homebuilt title ?
Good luck - keep us posted .
Feel free to PM me on this site if theres anything I can help you with .
If you have time - Do a search in the general forum here . Home Dawg alive and barking
for alittle insperation .

I have a Daytec frame . Same measurments as the 03/04 Chopper .
It has a left side drive tranny. I'm not sure about the Twin cam /Evo bolt pattern being the same . With my frame The tranny is shifted to the left - because of the 250 tire.
There is a compensator sprocket bolted to the motor that shifts the primary chain to the left - in line with transmission .
With your 05 right side drive I'm not that familure with, and I don't want to steer you
in the wrong direction .
I'm sure there are alot of members here familure with what your doing so give them a day or two to chime in on your questions.

05 and later Big Dog has a one off transmission form Baker. Their are no other just bolt in transmissions I know of. Primary is differnet as well standard HD stye primary. Starter would be up higher and most likely would have to mod the side covers, batt box and oil tank. Transmission mounting plates are different as well. :hi:

Easiest would be to buy a frame from the manufacturer giving them the specs of the engine and all you have.

Or look at a thunder mountain bike.

They are custom frames with hd running gear.

I was going to reframe my street glide. I would also have to buy a new transmission.

In the end it was easier to buy a bike setup like I wanted as insurance for a reframed bike put the rates equivalent to a street bike.

Read Home Dawg alive and barking - in the general forum - do a search.I built my own bike useing alot of Big Dog parts .
Check E bay - There are always primary cases and covers from peolpe switching to
belt drive . I see Baker transmissions from Big Dog Motorcycles on there too .As well as rims for 05 Chopper .
Check Biker Garage 101 .com for fenders and oil tank .
Don't get discouraged. It took me about two years to put mine together.Alot of it was saving up for parts .

You will have to worry about the offset on the primary also with the RSD frame

I changed to a standard trans several years ago, but on a K9 with a larger off set. I converted the entire bike to stock HD set up. With respect to the trans, we made a stock template and welded the trans bracket slightly higher... as someone mentioned, the side cover had to be slightly cut to allow for the starter to sit higher - but you can't notice it because we cut inside the cover where there is a "lip". Did not want to spend a lot of money not knowing if it would work, so we put in a rev-tech 6 speed trans and it works perfectly. I'm still running the SS 117 motor, but next thing will probablly be a screaming eagle evo motor - I like to ride long distance and the 117 shakes too much and not big on having compression release, etc.

Would be nice to see some pics! Yes the trans plate is diff. And that makes the diff between fault or success sounds like you got it.:2thumbs:

OK Sure - not a photo bucket user, so here's a direct upload

You can see the starter sits high - used a Spyke low profile starter. Also allowed me to use stock BDL open primary :)
