Just picked up my buddy that bought a 2008 street glide and was having his 1000 mile service. He had a better airfilter put on and had it re-mappped at this service. They wanted $1000 for the dyno service which they said will give him 10 more HP. Are you fucking kinding me? A Grand? Kiss my ass. :job:

That is F'ing ridiculus. Even if the shop had a full out brake dyno and did a complete step run, at $100 and hour that would allow for 10 hours of mapping and if it takes them 10 hours to map with the right dyno, they are just guess and changing sitting verse seeing it, finding the proper area and then fine tuning.

Now if they are using a typical DynoJEt and doing sweep test, then such test never give the right details on information to fine tune a EFI right. So they may take 10 hours for they just basically would run a quick sweep, take a wild ass guess, run another sweep, more guessing and keep dicking with it until they get the HP they want and it is not total shit.

$1000 is BS and though I can not say how they come up with that figure, it is so shit for mapping that I would not even waste the time to ask anymore.

Based on the news I saw yesterday concerning HD laying off allot and missing predictions, the shop may be better to stop stealing from customers and get back to the basic and not just robbing folks blind.

No shit. I had my 2006 Street Bob dynoed and remapped by a local dealer, did a great job, got the 10 extra horsepower that hides in every new Harley and paid about $125.00 if I remember correctly.

marinecorpsmike,

Now yours sounds about right, maybe even a little on the low side but not much. Great deal. The funny thing is, with the EFI and HD, they have so many variable that have been tried already documented, that for most times it is very quick for they can pull a base map based on the componets and then just fine tune quickly.

Maybe the HD dealer is on crack or having a need to aquire some funding for crystal meth. There has to be drugs involved there somewhere or they must have the richest customers going or one that just do not know any better.

I should have clarified, it wasn't a Harley dealer but rather a Big Dog authorized service dealer that has a pretty good reputation around here. Did the remap with the Vance & Hines Fuel Pak I had installed with my pipes.

That $1000 was after he paid for the air filter and re-mapping. It was Orange County Harley in Irvine CA.

I would say $1000 if it included the power commander, air filter and custom map.
