Hard to pull clutch

I had my clutch cable snap a couple months ago. I replaced it and I have about 500 miles on. I was on a ride and about 2 hours in the clutch got really hard to pull. Any ideas on what it might be? I did a search and didn't find much. Thanks for any and all advice.

Ok, I'll give! How does a lube tool work. I usually undue my midway connector on my clutch cable and use Bennelli gun oil and squirt it in to the bottom of the sleeve and do the same on the top. Let gravity do the rest.

Mounts to the end of the cable and seals that end. You then insert the tube in to the tool and spray the lube into the cable. The additional benefit from the tool is a cleansing action of the cable and sleeve as you force new lube through the cable

Thanks for all the input guys. Ill lube the cable as soon as I can. I finally got a chance to look over the bike and I found a set screw with nylon on one end had backed out. On the clutch lever. The screw was digging in metal to metal causing it to pull really hard. Glad it was simple this time. Thanks again.

Ok Kaptain, correct me if I'm wrong. In order to clamp this devise on you have to remove the clutch cable from the clutch lever? Wish you had a YouTube video on it!

Yes, you do have to pull the cable at one end to use the tool
I look at it as a once a year maintenance item since your doing a thorough flush and lube

I'll take some pictures of it soon. I'm going to put another set screw in behind it so it won't happen again. When I look at the diagram in the service manual I don't see that screw. So I'm not sure if the stock clutch lever has it or not.
