i have a 2004 mastiff. bike will start right up first try when cold. if i run the bike for awhile to where it is warmed up, shut bike off, try to restart it, it take two or three time for it to catch. if i let it cool down for an hour or so it starts right up. what might cause this to happen?

a better question to my sitaution is could the ignition be overheating or the decompression vavles get hot enough to make them stick? if i start the bike as i do when it is cold twisting the throttle twice is sounds like its loading up with fuel. when it starts it runs great. not sure if a different procedure to start when warmed up.
Hey that might be it. My bike had to vent caps on it when I bought it. It would leak gas out the left tank. I was told to plug hole in left cap. So I took cap apart and welded the hole up. Gas don't leak on that side anymore. I was going to put a tee in the top hose between the two tanks. Never got around to it. Thanks ill try that and let you if that works.

Update- drilled vent hole in right gas cap one size bigger. Put tee in top hose between two tanks and extended hose up into center console. Took bike on a 200 mile trip with several stops in between. If the bike cooled down it started right away. If I started bike and it was warm it only took two tries to start, more consistent than the two and three tries as before. Not sure the extra venting of the tank solved my problem? But it did help. I may look into changing the ignition. Thanks for your help.
I installed the dyna 2ki ignition. Solve my problem. The bike starts right up every time. The old ignition worked. Might have been a timing issue,but the new ignition has the led to help in timing. Just to give my input on the dyna 2ki ignition. I like it, easy to install and easy to adjust.
