Hard bags

Hey everyone, haven't been on in a while but have a question, has any one ever seen or made or thought about hard bags on a chopper. I'm thinking of something on my 04 softtail in addition to the hundreds of soft bags I have. I bought my 04 chopper brand new and currently pushing 52 thousand miles on it. Thinking of taking a few long trips this year and thought the hard bags might be handy. I know the 2010 mastiff and cruiser had fairings and bags but haven't seen anything for a chopper. Any thoughts? Thanks all

on my last K-9 I bought hard bags and did it myself -- search the forum I descibed my choices in an earlier thread.
If u can't find it, let me know.

Bags I bought were from http://www.wittcoenterprises.com/ used model MM02

I bought a set of EZ Brackets
I bought an extra pair of struts (just in case)
I took the struts and drill all the way thru 2 of the existing holes and tapped them the rest of the way.
I mounted them back on the Bike and bolted the EZ-Brackets to them
Lined up the bad and drilled and mounted them to the brackets.

I wish I had taken pictures during this project but I didn't, sorry.

The one caveat I will warn you about, is if you do this, ride 2 up and pack the sissy bar the way I do, and are on the large size as I am, you are going to exceed the GVWR for the bike. I did and I broke a strut bolt which twisted the fender and chewed up the new tire on the rear and caused a 2 day delay on my way to FL one year while I fixed it in a Hotel parking lot.

My current theory is if you know your destination, mail or UPS it to the hotel! and pack lighter - do laundry or wear worn out stuff and dispose of after wearing it -- face it your probably buy t-shirts at the event anyway!

If I did it again, I'd just do supports and use throw over bags ( less weight and the only real lose is lockable and that can be solved.)
