Hand Signals / Blinkers / Both

I typically use hand signals, but on occasion I also hit the blinker. I personally think the hand signal is better. For sure is more visible to others.
It seems I see fewer riders these days using them. I know a new rider may not feel comfortable taking a hand off the bars, but what about everyone else? Is it laziness?
I don't know....
Give me your feedback. Maybe we need to start a campaign to bring back the hand signal!

When riding with other bikers, I always use hand signals. When I am by myself, I usually do not. For some strange reason...I have noticed I always use both when I am changing lanes to the left.

usually use hand signals, myself. think the biggest problem is that most drivers have no idea what the hand signals mean anymore. have even seen some riders signal a right turn using the right arm instead of the left. agree with the group rides.

True that most people nowadays have no idea what the hand signals mean.

I do both
:agree:

I use both in heavy traffic. Blinkers work for me on fairly open roads.

I had a driver wave back when I was signaling to move right. I thought, "well, aint that nice, now get the hell outta my way."

I to think drivers in cars have no idea what your doing. They think your waving to them or trying to get a bee off your arm. I just use the turn signals and keep my eye's open.

Don't ask me why but when I signal a left lane change I use my arm but when I make right turns I use the turn signal. People get it when your left arm is hanging straight out to the left but when you use your arm to signal a right turn I think most are oblivious.

I hate hitting the blinkers, always using the hands. Its easier I think and a little more obvious especially on lefts. But you guys are right most cagers probably don't know the hand signals.

Obvioulsy I am forced to use blinkers when the suns down.

When in close traffic like a city or rush hour..I always use my hand i and I look at the closest cage driver and make eye contact so they know where I am going. In the sticks with alot of hicks where I hang my hat....if no one is around...why bother with either. When going the gym riding the gauntlet...always 100% of the time signals as I see 15-20 leo's every day and don't want to give them a reason to help fund their unfunded pension plan.

I don't even have blinkers. My buddies complain that sometimes at night they can't see my hands (I usually lead), and I was pulled over a few weeks ago for "not using my blinker", though I did hand signal, and had to explain to the cop that I don't even have blinkers, while trying not to slur too bad...

Generally only blinkers at night for visibility.......Used to always use both during the daytime for same reason but have shifted to mostly hand signals lately. Guess I'm getting too lazy to push the buttons as I get older.

Interesting that most replies here use hand signals but 99% or more bikes I see never use them when I am near. Oh well guess that means Big Dog riders are once again at the top of our game!
