I'm thinking about doing a old school wiring on my dog. Which switches and hand controls do y'all recommend on using? Any other info would be also be helpful.

I am aware of the PM. They are ok. I don't know about the RS. What is the name of that company? No thanks on the HD. Too bulky for me. I like the HHI ones but I heard the are cheaply made.

I bought 1984 TO 1995 HARLEY DAVIDSON CHROME HANDLEBAR CONTROL KIT 5/8" BORE W/ SWITCHES from alscycleparts on Ebay for $269 and they come complete with all wiring and are good quality.

For the record, IMO, this is not the best option.

First off, you not going to make Bill happy ever because your bike and mine not unlike virtually every car and bike made in the world is microprocessor controlled because it's EFI.

You cannot "old school wire it" completly.

You could eliminate most of the ehc/low current switch functions, and go to old high current style hand controls etc.

You would be loosing a great custom feature, and without good reason.

I'm not sure what problems you are trying to resolve.

My bike came with a wire plus module which I have had issues with. If I have anymore problems with it I will change it out for the thunderheart. It's been around about ten years with a good track record. Appears to be well developed.

As I have said many times before. Executed properly, most controllers are very reliable.

Virtually every bike made today are EFI and run off them very reliably.

Thanks Captain. They are sweet
I didn't see them in my searching. The reason I wanna switch to a old school wiring. The bike starts and all my controls work fine. If I leave the bike outside in cold temperatures and then try to start it, the bike plays dead. I mean nothing. No light nothing. If I roll in inside to warm temperatures and give it a hour. She starts rite up like nothing was wrong. I had my EHC tested and it went into fail mode. So I wanna go with the most reliable opinion.

I don't mean to seem like Captian obvious but living in Pa. I assume you know what cold weather does to a battery. Ever had yours checked? Rewiring seems like a lot of work.

Ya. I did have the battery checked. It came back good. It's only 6 months old. I thought about the opinions. I think the best opinion is old school rewire.

Mr. Wright

Knows some things
Take it from someone who has hard wired, If you have a plug and play option, go that route. I used the Thunder heart Ignition, and the bad lands signal light control, and still had to run 88 foot of wire and 7 relays. Keep it stockish, as long as you can, if for no other reason, resale value.

I'm not too worried about resale value. I plan on keeping my dog forever. I just want reliable.

Don't want to piss ya off but there is no need for all those relays. All you need is 1 starter relay with power going to 2 circuit breakers. That setup is too much overkill.
