Had enough

Dont know about you guys but I have had enough with the electral problems of my 07 K9.

Now dont get me wrong I LOVE my BD but I am going to the very basics. My speedo is gone,,,I think my EHC is on its way out. It is still uner warranty but I have decided not to replace anything. I dont need a frigging speedo...dont need turn signals....once the EHC goes I am direct wiring...... I have already replace a headlight...I am sure the bandit clutch will be put in next.

The only thing that will be left from BD is the frame and engine by the time I get done. I can't keep putting the same shit back on just to replace again down the road.
:bang:

Well, I know a lot of guys are having better luck with some of the most recent updates. To each his own, but making a mfg honor their warranty isn't something to be ashamed of, just get it fixed bro!

yeah...as Pro said "to each their own" but if your scoot is still under warranty.....why would you not get it taken care of? I have had my share of problems also...but I always had the dealer take care of them....they came and picked my bike up...and I am 124 miles from my dealer....do what you gotta do...but I would get my shit fixed right while its still under warranty......just a thought.....

Personally I would rather pay for replacement parts that you can trust than get free parts you can't. It sounds from Dimentia's post that he is having repetitive problems.

I just can't see putting the same thing back on again and watching it slowly go out later down the road when the warranty is up. ... nothing wrong with all the new computer gadgets these days but I think its just not for me. Less fancy gadgets the less problems you have. Its getting to be too complicated to work on these things,,,so I have decided to simplify.

Old school needs to be brought back on my K9.... This winter she gets torn apart and simplified with basic wiring,,no turn signals,,bandit clutch,,new iginition,,,no speedo and no damn EHC. I will keep you all posted this winter and let you know how it goes and if any future problems with going back to the basics....

TIME TO TEACH THIS NEW DOG SOME OLD DOG TRICKS!!!!

Gas,
Where did he say watching it go to shit in front of him?

Appears he said the new electronic age of components is not for him and does not want to get into a cycle of replacing the stuff again later after the warranty is gone...
I can't blame him for feeling like that......

Dimentia
If I were you "IMHO" I would let them fix it under warranty and when you rewire this winter, sell all the stuff you took off it if it is still working.:D

I am just fustrated... I have this bad ass looking bike but I just can't seem to keep it up and running. Plus with KC Creations closing down I now have no one around to do warranty work. I would have to take it all the way to Wichita, KS now and they is about 4 hrs away.

Nomad that is a good idea..... I wonder if I can take my speedo off and mail it wichita have them test it and then send me a new back?

There isnt anything wrong with going back to old school is there? I just don't need all the fancy electronic gadgets.... I am just a simple minded person...... All I want to do is just ride.

I hope I am not pissing anyone off.....just need to vent

Yeah there is nothing wrong with it... but if he's having problems now why not just take it back to the dealership and get it done under warrenty

thats the problem... I dont have a dealership around anymore. KC Creations was the only one around here. Wichita is the nearest one and it is 4 hrs away. Just not convient to go everytime I have an issue anymore.

Some of the mechanics that left creations have started work around here will work on the BD but they are not authorized to do warranty work,,,,don't know why they aren't but they really need to be.

Dimentia,
Never hurts to call customer service and see what they tell you. With the layoff's and down turn at the puppy farm, you think they would want to work with you. In my case, they have worked with me in the past with circumstance's.

I may be wrong on this but it seems the older Big Dog bikes were old school using typical Harley controls and all and changed business practices in 04 or 05. I am like you and want to go in that direction also but I prefer the FI for the conveniences, just not the proprietary approach they took to the mapping so I am looking to other options.

I think everyone one on this forum wants to do what you said "All I want to do is just ride'.

Some of the bikes have been problem free and they have enjoyed that freedom and some have had issues that the dealers promptly correctly and some have had there bikes in hell holes that never seem to getting around to working on them or just never fix them....BDM has stepped up numerous times to help out a lot of people, me included.

That does not mean that I want the electronic EHC in my bike or the proprietary map. Yea, I will get ride of it too.

I think old school is cool too with some newer tech here and there..

I know BDM built these machines with the EHC to help them troubleshoot them over the PC with the shop on the phone trying to help get them back on the road quicker with first time quality repairs but it sure seems to of backfired in a lot of ways.....
That's just my take not that it means anything...
I just want to ride too.

Chris,

I know I need to... the wife is on my ass also to take it to them... she said we spent too much money on the warranty not to use it.... I will give them one more time to fix it and after that it gets converted to old school from then on..:whoop:

Guess I need to let go on the ego and just take her back in to the vet one last time. Guess that would give me reason for a road trip....I really like listening to the other voices in my instead of you guys...my voices always agree with me :willy_nilly:
