harleys lose value like a rock too. my hog lost 45% value in 4 years, its just the market right now. heck even home values are going down 10-15%. but anything that leaves the dealers lot drops 5-6k before you get it home. i knew this and bought a new k9 anyhow, i just like knowing how my stuff has been treated from the get go. ya gotta pay to play, at least when you do it with style..

It's a buyers market. Which means you can't get shit for yours but can pick up a great deal.

I'd take the deal personally, we all lost a lot of money when we rode off on our bike, thats the main reason you need to make damn sure you get what you want the first time around and be prepared to bite the bullet when you sell it. I got a hell of a deal on mine so I'm sitting pretty good but I looked for over 3 months till the right deal came along, anyway good luck and patience pays off in the long run.

Trade it at the dealer for a used bike. Again, when you trade, you don't pay sales tax on the amount of your trade. If you get 12k for the trade, and buy a 20k bike, you only pay sales tax on 8k. That's saving over $800 here in the great state of NJ, so there's your pipes right there. Or what you could do is sell it yourself for 12k, then kick in another 2k and but my Chopper. It's way cooler then a K9 anyway. :)

Don't get the EFI, I have 2 friends with k9's that are having issues with it, and the worst part is none of the dealers seem too good at diagnosing the problem. They are both very unhappy campers...

i am one of those two of moe's friends with the efi k-9. bought mine this past spring for 29200. i'm sure you can do even better now. you will really enjoy having an efi but like moe said, not many trained technicians are out there to diagnose a problem. i'm sure they are getting better and better each day as the efi bikes become more popular. if your gonna do it do it. you'll love it! only if big dog would allow more qualified techs to work on them besides their dealers they would prob sell alot more and stay with the times!! good luck and let us know on what you decide:cheers: by the way---moes bike is pretty bad ass and has been maintained perfectly!!! you should def check it out

I bought my 03 Chopper in 03, when the factory offered end of year incentives. I paid around $25K with two-up seat/sissy bar, along with a couple other goodies. Good price in 03 and the price held up for a couple years.......as more and more BD/AIH, and others, hit the market, resale values fell off. Same thing happened to Harley. I bought a Harley in 1988 for $9.5K and sold it in 02 for $12K. That bike today you could pick-up for $5K.
The Chopper bubble maybe over making room for the next wave. Personally my passion for a custom chopper went on for years.......I finally got one and will ride this one until I can't any more or the wife takes the keys away from me. :) :whoop: :)
Don't measure value of life against value of property by one snippet of time. I owned a 55 Chevy in 56. Bought it for $1700, sold it for $1000. Today could buy it back for $100K. WTF  My 03 Chopper still makes me happy and is worth $25K to me. :hi:

I bought my 03 chopper back in 2005 with 3000 miles in it for $20K. Fuck the book value it's what it's worth to the owner that matters.
