hey all, 06 Ridgeback just rebuilt the solenoid and added a slam button was getting the click of Dread battery is good 13.8 volts and load tested should have check the voltage @ the green wire first but i am only getting 5.5 volts with ignition off and on. i know there is to be 8volts at the green wire when ignition is off and 12volts when on. any ideas?

The only voltage that matters is the 12 volt shot when you have the ignition on and you hit the start button. Two separate but simultaneous operations happen when you hit start. Your compression releases get a shot and the starter solenoid. If you get no click you may need to hit the run button first. If you still get no click from either check your start button. If you hear the compression release and no voltage at green wire check your EHC connection. If you get the 12v at the green wire check the solenoid for a broken wire at the connection just under the slam button cover.
If your starter works with the slam button but you get no voltage at the green wire and the EHC connection looks good your EHC for that function may be toast. You can have EHC tested and maybe replaced or simply install a momentary on push button switch to supply the 12v to the solenoid connection. Only needed if you want to have a second way to start the bike . Mount the button through the skirt in an area where it won't hit anything behind the skirt and run a new wire to the starter solenoid.
