Looking forward to retirement
Back in 1987, I had a friend on the NHRA Saftey Safari team. He got me a Pass & Pit Pass with them at the inaugural National race At the Orange County Texas Gay/Angel race track outside of Houston Texas. It was the 1st time a Top Fuel driver broke into the 4's and backed it up. Genn Snow broke 4.99 but could not back it 2 weeks prior. Eddie Hill ran 4.99 and then a 4.98. I got a T-Shirt and had some of the Legends of drag racing sign it that weekend. Connie Kaletta, Shirley Moldowney, Eddie Hill, Bob Glidden and Don Garlits. This was back when the public was not allowed back wondering around by the crews, but with my Saftey Safari badge I was allowed every where. This was in the top 100 best trips of my life.

Great shirt and nice to have some of the legends sign it. Funny about the comment of public not wondering around with the crew, for many years prior to then, they in fact did, starting going when I was a kid and some of the family were out at Pomona back in the 60's, followed regliously through the 70's into the early 80's and back then Pit Pass got you up close and very personal and if you were not careful you may had one of the crew say, pass me the 9/16 boix end wrench. Funny how times have change and no and day people seem to be able to get back up close and personal a little more.
