GPS UNITS

Just bought a Garmin Zumo 550 GPS. Anyone ever installed one on their dog? And if so how did the install go for you.

Would not put one on my dog but thats just me. I will carry my GPS in my backpack if i'm in unfamiliar territory.

I have a Zumo 550 on my Street Glide, used the Ram handlebar mount, which would also work on a Dog I think. Great little thing, the Zumo, has Bluetooth for the cellphone, and XM.

My buddy owns a business in San Diego and has to go do estimates for appliance installations. He uses this to navigate the city. He also uses it for his MP3 music.

I have a Garmin 760, but would never use it with the Dawg - the whole point is to get lost and forget the rest of the world.

The RAM mounts are really great - just Google it.

But for business travel to strange cities, Garmin can't be beat. They have the most user friendly software by far.

Sorry I didn't get pictures up today. Had to deal with family medical issues all day. I will try and take them tomorrow and get them posted. - Gary C

I am not sure if this will work, but here are some pictures of the GPS on my K9

Ram Mount on handlebars

Gps mount

Power cord for GPS and battery tender

GPS unit mounted

The unit is only mounted on my bike about 5% of the time. It takes about 5 minutes to put it on and about the same to remove. I hope this helps.

I installed one on my Harley (heritage softail) and it works great. Probably only took an hour to install.

P.S. I will be leaving it on my HD.

Lets all place nice now.

I like the GPS set-up myself. On long trips, or getting where you need to be, it's nice to know where you are going without having to stop. :2thumbs:

I still want something a little smaller. How easy is the Zumo 550 to use while riding?
