got a question on ProTune 2

Energy One
got my serial port at Best Buy make sure it has a FTDI chipset in serial port for ProTune2 or may not read your ECM.
Sweet, Thanks!! Just checking to see where you snagged it, I have a Fry's Electronic's a block from work, I remember reading in the EFI forum and Protune sticky to make sure you got the FTDI Chipset...

So Fry's and Best Buy was worthless.... At least the 2 closest to work... I could try another, any chance you have a name/model of yours, might be easier to look it up and call instead of riding around like a mad man trying to see if a Best Buy carry's it....

Hey, at least your Low Fuel light came on... Mine doesnt... When I turn the key it comes on just like you said for a sec or 2, goes out... But I ran it out of gas cause I didnt know.. Still need to trace this one...

Also, where did you get your Serial connection for your ECU? Was thinking of at least hooking mine up to see if theres anything, I believe I also have the locked version...
I have one pm me your info and I'll hook you up. It'd s serial port connection for the S&S box.

I got an open box item at another Best Buy, took my changes cause there was nothing on it stating FTDI or even Prolific... Got it home and found out its Prolific... So should be good, now I just need a Serial 90, cause where these things are located it tight for a straight shot into the port.

Headshothills not finding a 90 degree serial so i just dropped the battery box and went from there. pain in the ass but I couldn't find a 90 degree they are on fleabay but didn't want to wait for shipping of the serial port is not good no clearance your right good luck

So Fry's had a 90 adapter, had to hunt for it, but I might be cutting the plastic molding back also, cause the 90 turns down... FML.. HAHA

.69 cents, if it doesnt work, Hacking the plastic it is!! When watching the S&S Protune vid, he has a serial 90 cable, but that Serial to Serial...

Not realizing my work PC had a serial port, grabbed a cable, installed ProTune, and away we went, modded the cable to only use the 3 pins and we are in business...

Granted I still have the locked VFI, but still trying to figure out some odd idling issues, so DTC's would be good... Only thing I found was in the historic view...

P0150 Rear Oxygen Sensor Malfunction
P0217 Overheat Protection 1

Dont know if I need to or can run the software with it running, want to double check, but so far not finding the idle gremlin Im looking for...

You can absolutely and should while it's running. If you pull up the gauges page you can monitor all the inputs real time. If at any time any of the squares turn red, it means they are losing input from the sensors.

I would clear the faults you have in history and monitor to see if they reoccur. They could have set during a low battery event or something and not be real.

I have been having a check.engine light on.
And need to get protune up for the 1st time. Though I have no issues with the bike aside from that. What problems might I have if I keep riding until I figure this out.

Also, the light went out for awhile once since it came on then came back upon next start up. Maybe something is loose. Would you be able to tell me what to check for loosened connection? Thanks.

The reason I ask I had the RIP kit installed and the check engine and low fuel light wire plugs were switched around. I believe they were labeled wrong...that's why I ran out of gas....duuhhh go figure. Hope you get it figured out.

I can't answer for certain if it is ok to ride without knowing what the fault is. If your are not having any issues, its likely ok.

If the light goes out, it means the fault is not longer active or present. It will remain in history for reference until it's cleared.

Once you install protune and get it setup the first time, it only takes 30 seconds to check the faults.
