Going to "ride like a Cadillac" next year

I almost got this seat mounted last weekend when the temp hit 39 degrees! I ran into an issue (just my thought's) with the front seat mount, You drill into the backbone tube and bolt on the seat mount. Well I didn't think my wiring would like that over time, so I asked FabKevin for a different idea, we came up with a bolt-on mount that will bolt on my (fugly stock frame) seat tab. I haven't got it in the mail yet (holiday mail??).

I guess I could've gotten a softtail, but then I wouldn't have a badazz super fat rear tire! There are many, many rigids out there with solo seats too, this is my choice:up:

I also made a black leather cover to go over my wiring harness/battery. The seat will sit further back near the rear fender (better overall look and seating position) too. I'll have pic's this weekend.

Hear that brother...did the same thing to my rigid, but i welded the tabs to the crossbar. looks freaking badass. Now im just waiting for the seat to come back from Ryan. Oh and i went with the bobber pan from chopper shox by Dave. Ill post pics as you did once i get the seat here in a week or so. Can't wait.

Your seat rock's way...love the design!

"Should of just bought a softail if that's whay you wanted."

No softail for me either...I'm 6'4" and 220lbs...the softails are too short even with the extentions on the controls. The ridgeback pulls everything back...i have even taken the long ass stock bars off and added the extentions on the foot controls. To make a long story short the ridgeback frame is perfect for a big f-cker like me.:2thumbs:

Hey Cleaner,

What are you using for the front mount? I'm going through some trial and error with FabKevin but I'll deffinately have this fixed come Spring

Can't wait to see what you did!

I went with the weld-on bracket from Dave at choppershox. Welds right on top of the old seat bracket thing. After welding everything i just painted over it with a universal black. Blended real nice despite the frame being powdercoat. Had to make a few minor mods with this set up so it hides the mount altogether. Real clean looking! I'll try and post some pics later.

Question: How long did it take Ryan to get your seat back to you?

Thanks,
Colby:flag:

Hey Cleaner, it took about 3 weeks. I know Ryan does the show circut too so that may slow things up. I'm really pleased with the seat, I hope you mention my seat and that you saw it posted here.

"HARD TAIL" - was a design decision based on many, many things. It's not always all about the bike.....lol

These are the final pieces before I send them out to get chromed. With the slots in the front seat mount I have about 3 inches of adjustment. A true Bolt-on solo seat, I can switch back to my stock or 2-up at any time. I only had to drill 4 holes (2: 1/4x20 (front tab) and 2; 5/16 (rear shock mount)). Check out FabKevin for the mounts, Chopper shox, and Anvil Customs. :2thumbs::flag:

I also cut a thick piece of black leather to hide/protect the battery and wiring.
