All these war ships in the area and this is happening right by them, seems to more more target practicing is in order.
Need to let the Isrilies borrow one of our ships for a while and they could take care of the problem in short order, those folks dont put up with shit!! unlike all these other dickless countrys thats worried about what everyone is going to think about them for killing innocent pirates.

Actually, that form of displaying the flag is called the 'right' or 'reversed field' flag and is correct IF that picture is of the side of the ship and they are traveling in the direction of left to right (in the picture).

Just like when you see a soldier with a flag patch on his right shoulder.

Blue is the senior color and shall always be displayed forward (in the direction of motion).

Semper Fi!:flag:
:flag: thanks for the info, LDO. :flag:

3 more ships seized by pirates today. This is stupid. Why dont ships hire guards with serious weapons to shoot at them before they start climbing up into the ships?

It is mainly due to that many of the countries that the ships enter do not allow civilian vessel from another country (and possibly their own) to have arms. We do the same thing and would to some extend.

Also though there is quiet a few Naval Vessel from not only our own country, but others out there, the area is not like the local lake and is very vast and makes it hard to be everywhere at once. For some of the folks that have been on a ship out in the ocean, they woudl know what I mean by how hard it is to cover such a large area.

I am very proud of the ships crew and the Captain is outstanding and represents the best of what a Captain should be. The Navy and all involved did an outstanding job and amazing shooting from some of the best in the world.

I am sure that more and more of this is going to occur not just by us but by others as the French have already show as well as the Indian Navy previously.

Would be easy to just blow any small vessel away that was out there, however not all are Pirates, some may just be innocent fisherman that are trying to make a living. That said most of the pirates are operating from mothers ships and if we and the other nations could get a coordinated plan together and go after the Mother ships and take them out, would be a game changer for sure. Along the lines if we have a drone up, plane, big eye on the flying bridge or whatever and see a larger ship out there with some small carft near by, check them out and if they have no legit buisness going on, heave to or prepare to be sunk.

Unfortunately no eaasy answers but hats off to the men and women of the U. S Navy as well as others trying to make a difference and maybe more actions like this will slow down some, though unlikely since today they got 4 more.

I will also say, though I do not care for the French, they have shown themselves to take action also not once but twice now and though one hostage was killed overall they have done well.

Kudo to Captain Philips and the men of the Alabama as well as the Navy and especially to the snipers that kept up the one shoot one kill rule!!!

You got that right, Fiber. On one cruise aboard the USS Enterprise, we steamed at high speed for 5 days out into the Indian Ocean, then lauched off the pointy end in a jet, flew outbound for two hours at high altitude, returned to the ship, and never once saw any sign of life or land. It's a damn big ocean out there - and Raywood tells me there's even MORE water down below! :D

Very true, can not recall how much time I spent on a cutter looking for some missing small boat and doing plotted searches for days in a area that the small boat, people or ships was supposed to be in and not seeing it until almost on-top of it.

Hell even with radar, tracking a small boat is a bitch, I can not imagine how hard it would be to identify a Pirate vessle in a large area in a small boat and make sure it is not one of the many small fishing vessel that transfer that area.

Tough job for all involved, but glad this one came out for the good guys. Lets hope there is no more and if so that they come out good also.
