Well, on my way to Daves and BB&BBQ this year I hit the mother of all potholes here in South Carolina.
I ended up standing completely upright on the pegs, mirror were both bounced way out of adjustment, hat went flying off.
I stopped, pick up hat, then I waited a minute or two to see if the tire was going to go flat or not. It didn't so off on the road I went.
Checked into my hotel that night and while unloading the luggage off the bike I notice it looked like the chrome cracked on the luggage rack to sissy bar weld.
Ah, well could have been worse I thought to myself and I continued the trip. By the time I loaded up and left Daves I had a few rattles that I didn't have when I left the house. It seems the gas tank rubber mount is due for replacement (no biggie) the luggage rack was rattling even more that what I thought it should. Well come to find out today that yep, snapped the weld entirely to the right side of the sissy bar/luggage rack and the left side bolt holding the sissy bar to the struts also broke. Less than one turn and bolt dropped into my hands -- rest is still in the bar.
Last year it was the transmission -- not sure how many more trips this bike has in it -- apparently it does like to head towards its birthplace!
Nah, will take more than this to keep me away next year.
