Getting frustrated!!!!!

Energy One
Almost got my carb issues resolved, then this morning was going to take it for a ride after changing jet yesterday. It was a cold nignt last night and this morning it was warm & muggy. When I opened the garage the bike started sweating. I tried to start it and it cranked but wouldn't start. Checked for gas that was good. Checked for spark and there was none. Took other bike for a ride and when I got home tried to start the dog and it started right up. This is getting very frustrating. Are these bikes really that sensetive?

Since I bought the bike earlier this year I've put only 70 miles on it. Two thirds of those were trying to get the thing to run right. I've had to push it home twice from over a half mile away. I have changed the carb and was trying to work through tuning it when this morning a new problem. It's at the point I'm afraid to ride it anywhere for fear of breaking down.

Do I need to replace EHC to trust the bike to .

One of the old ones.
My 2010 EFI Bagger did that a couple of times on a tour when it got cold...I'm pretty sure it's the EHC because when we got a hair dryer and blew it on the EHC fo about 30-45 seconds, everything lit up and it ran perfectly. A couple of mornings later it started but the speedo/odo didn't work for a half hour or so, then blinked on. If it drops into the 40's and does it again, hit it with a hair dryer and see what happens. Both times with the Bagger involved early mornings with temps in the mid to high 40's.
My Bagger issue is definitely EHC and is temperature related. But if the idiot lights fire up, it starts, and has always run perfectly for the rest of the day. But I think the RIP kit from Big Dog is in in my future..BDM in Wichita told me they are a couple of weeks back ordered.
My '08 K9 EHC has been bullet proof for 65,000 miles until a mechanic left the battery ground loose. My understanding is that the '08's and later have fewer problems.

It will first start when the temp drops below 55* and won't come back on until you get above 60*, unless you use a hair dryer.
Then it will eventually start happening when its warm also. Nothing works, I mean completely dead, no lights no nothing, dead. A few hours later, varoom.
Do yourself a favor and start reading up on which new system you want to convert to, DOC's ESC, Rip 2 or Axels. They all have there benefits, I myself have installed DOC's ESC and have been trouble free for 2 yrs.
Its not a matter of if it will do it again, but when is it gonna happen, and you could be towing it, not good

25000 miles trouble free miles on stock EHC. Ever heard of contact cleaner and dielectric grease? It work wonders and last a long time....

Hey John I know what you mean about the weather. I live in Aurora. I know at night when my ridgeback is parked outside on a cool night it would do the same thing. Put a light near the EHC and after a certain amount of time it would fire up. Since yours was in the garage It should of stayed warm enough to prevent this.

And 50ish miles?..:oldlaugh:
0 miles, it worked when I drove it in the trailer in Daytona and when I got home it was dead, 2 hrs later in the garage it started:oldconfused:
Twice this happened trailering it home from Daytona, once in March and the other in October. 1st time cold and the 2nd time it was not cold in October. Once it starts dying, its only a matter of time, keep towing on your insurance cause your gonna need it:whoop::chopper:

I used to live in Aurora. On Pioneer Trail. The wife and I decided to downsize a few years ago and moved to the west side. If I ever get this bike running rite we'll have to hook up and take a ride. If your up for it.
