i have a 05 chopper i have a charging issue or something i can start the bike after i charge it but as soon as i ride it and shut it off it just clicks rapidly. im assuming its a regulator or stator but just checking to see if its something stupid i did (odds are) or if bd has issues that im unaware of. And also my oil tank is building pressure not sure why the hell its doing this can anyone help me im at my whits end with this damn thing :bang:also how much oil goes in the tank of a 05 chopper i thought it was 4 but i could be wrong its been known to happen haha also if it was over full on oil it would just puke out a breather or something wouldnt it????? any help is appreciated

Suggest you start the scoot and put a meter on the battery terminals while it's running to see if your charging system is charging. If it's charging you have a bad battery. If it's not charging then you need to test your V/R and Stator...:2thumbs:

Start with the simple stuff. Use a meter to see if it is charging.
Check to see if your bike has a breaker. Check wiring and connections.
Load test the battery. Or have it done at a local shop. You can just bring the battery.
If it is not charging and the battery is good check the vr then the stator.

I'm no expert,so coming from Capt.Obvious, check and make sure terminals are tight(locktight is good),esp neg.term.going to frame(I Only mention it because mine came loose). You'll get better and more advice from others.Good luck

Bike should be charging at 13.2 VDC at least from Idle up to 3000 rpm and beyond. Load test battery for sure. How old is the battery?
As far as oil goes. It's a 3 quart system, NOT 4.

FYI there is now a device out there that will let you know if you ever have battery, stator or VR issues. A former member (The Dead One) has his own business and all his products are geared for Big Dogs. This particular device is a red LED light that mounts near your coil and is easily seen while you're riding your bike. The light comes on if voltage drops too low (bad battery/stator) or if voltage gets too high (bad VR). I think I listed those right. Anyway, it's a simple hook up and will pay for itself the first time it lets you know you have an issue and keeps you from being stranded off somewhere. Jeff (The Dead One) can be reached at Deadonecustoms@yahoo.com. It's a great little gadget to let you know something's not quite right. I put them on both mine and my wife's dogs.

ok so i tested the charging system turns out the v/r was bad replaced that all is well but i still have a issue with building pressure in the oil tank is a little pressure normal? it will build pressure in the garage just idleing. i made sure all the lines are correct and its no longer over full on oil but it still builds a little pressure i can hear it when i take the cap off the oil tank . as far as the lines go there is 2 lines on the right side and one on the left the top one on the right and the left side one can be used for either the return or breather and the bottom one is the feed is this correct?

Use a voltmeter across the battery terminals when it's running. Should be pulling around 13.5 volts. If not, it's the stator - had this problem on my last Harley.

Excessive oil pressure sounds like you've overfilled the tank. Oil level should be around 1.5 inches below the top of the oil tank when hot. If the tank is not overfilled I'd pull the hoses and check for sludge/blockage. I'd also consider swapping out that filter, even if it's new - could be a cheap fix. Your bike should hold 3 quarts.
