Ok so i just got my bike back from the shop which i had a s&s 585 cam, carb thunderjeted, new valve springs installed (05 Pitbull)and i went to beat on it this weekend and ran out of gas. lol I know i know funny but luckly i was a block from a gas station. However i burnt threw three tanks of gas and am only getting 80 miles to a tank. Im curious if anyone elses bike is getting this kind of mileage or is this way to low for what i had done to it. Any help would be appreciated.....thanks

I have a 06 K9 which has a 4.4 gallon tank, and I get about 180 before reserve. sounds like you need to either re jet carb. or set the idle mixture screw properly or both. most get around 150 I have mine leaned out but you loose a little performance. the more I get into it the gas mileage goes down, If I am just bar hopping the gas mileage goes down ( all short trips).
haha yes i do fill both sides of the tank....and it runs great other then i notice at a stop (light, sign etc) i do smell gas enough that my eyes will star to water and black smoke coming from my exhaust here and there.....think the thunderjet is tuned wrong or jets might be wrong and is dumping to much gas into the carb idk.......what are you guys running jets wise with this setup? If your smelling unburned raw gas then I would say something isnt right, I'm not for sure what kind of milage you were getting before but it sounds like you can barely run around the block without re-fueling now, You may want to call the shop that did the upgrades and get their oppinion but it really sounds likee it way rich.
No stlmikie i know i just thought it was funny lol i actually did only fill half the tank the first week i had it and was like wtf.....but ill def call the shop tom and see what they have to say...as far as the jets or the carb is concerned hows your guys set (jets, air bleed, etc) just so i can gauge how far this shop is off or if there even close.
