gas on floor

Hello everyone. So, I drove around for an hour or so yesterday, came back parked in the garage, came out two hours later and there was about a foot in diameter of gas on the floor. The gas was coming out of one of the small plastic hoses that led somewhere up to the carb. So, I turned the gas to off and it stopped. What is that all about?? Anyone have any ideas? I did fill up the gas tank a couple of days before so it was a completely full tank. I don't see how it would have to do with this problem but I had just changed the engine oil and the primary oil. I actaully took the dog out for a ride after I changed the oils to make sure I didn't have any leaks. Don't know if that had anything to do with this? Thanks for any info.

Can you post a picture of the hose? Is it one of the gas feed lines to the carb?
How cold did your dog get this winter diod you crack a line?

No big deal mine will do it sometimes. I just turn the gas off whenever I park for a while or if I park indoors. That tube is the overflow from the carb float bowl and is routed down to the floor to keep fuel off of the bike.

That happens when fuel is left in the bikes over a long winter if no fuel additive is put in to keep it from varnishing up. Float may be sticky and that will cause it to overflow like that. I'd pull the float bowl and spray it out with some carb cleaner.

Should cure your problem.

It sounds as if your float got stuck and allowed your carb to empty itself thru the overflow line. You should drop the carb bowl (lower half) and see if there is any debris in there. Chances are you have a little bit of trash in there that has gotten under the needle and prevented the float from returning to it's 'neutral' state.

Could have been worse, could have drained your entire tank. Need to get in there and clean it up.

Many on here have gone to external fuel filters to help prevent the buildup of trash inside your carb.

your needle and seat may need to be replaced check that out when you clean the float out. mine did it for a while and I got fed up with it and replaced it now its fine

This is true... cause if I stay on the bed, the wife just takes advantage of me!

Its a stuck float... drop the bowl and clean.
