Gas Leaking from GAS CAP?

Ok, so this has to be the weirdest thing I have ever had happen to me in all my years of riding.... Went for a quick ride today, filled up on the way home and parked my bike. About an hour later I noticed fuel pouring (or being forced out of the left side of my tank through the gas gap. I stood the bike up, opened it, and looked inside, saw a bubble or two and the fuel fall back down into the tank. when the bike was leaning on the stand, gas was rising (I could see the level rise) and started pouring out again I am clueless as to what this could be. Any ideas?

Happen to me too I think heat does that, I didn't have the cup all the way tie.

sounds like a simple matter of over filling. sounds like you have the split tank and in that instance, there is a crossover tube that would allow for the gas from the opposite tank to also flow into the low tank putting more pressure against the cap. i also believe the caps are a little low on the top of the tank causing a little more problem. easiest fix, just don't overfill.

Best way to alleviate that is to either not fill it up as much as wood suggested or place a small flat rock or puck under your kick stand. Your scoot is leaning too far over. The same happened on my mastiff..

Is the oring intact and in good shape? May want to consider replacing it. Lube it a little to make sure you are getting a good seal. Mines never done that and it leans pretty far over. Logically I would think there would always be fuel against the left cap when it's full. I have made the mistake of taking the left cap off after a fill up when it was on the stand and it made an f'n mess.

Are you sure it's coming from under the cap and not from under the saver? Which would be a bigger issue to deal with.

my Mastiff had done that from day one if I over fill it --- or the pump don't auto shutoff like it should. So I put the nozzle in until it touched the inside then pull it back out about a inch. ---:lol::lol::lol: that way I wont get any spillage.
