Gas Gauge

One of the things that annoys me about chopper riding is the lack of a gas gauge -- at least the EFI has an idiot light, the carb -- track your mileage and pray you don't get bad mileage cause of bad gas (been there -- done that -- didn't like it).

A while back I figured out a way to get the gas comsumption on the efi bike pretty easily and just haven't finished the prototype. Didn't work oncarb bikes at all.

My design criteria is NO TANK MODIFICATIONS. I have no desire to deal with the can of worms that can open, not for myself or for something I can help others with.

I am finally about to protoype a unit that would work on carb and fuelies as well by design -- I have to check spacially for the fuel injected bike if it will work but I can alwaysresrt to the other method for efi.

Now here's the question for all of you.

Who would be interested in this as a pretty easy to install setup/kit.
Would a remote screen (bluetooth) that you mount on Handlebars be good for you?
Would you prefer that it displays on your phone with an option to beep a a defineable las gas mark?

Any other thoughts you have about what you'd want will be appreciated. A little modification and we could easily rpovide MPG (real time) MILES to go, Fuel used.
All of this will require you reset gas gauge manully at fill up -- will not work or sense putting in a half tank, must fill completely (pretty sure we all do)

I have an EFI, with the low fuel light. I removed my speedo in lieu of using my phone for Nav etc. Sadly I have run out of gas a couple times, so I added a LED back for the low fuel indicator.

I also bought on of these, thinking I may add one day for a gage, but want to use with my phone.

So long story short, yes interested with a phone app.

I don’t like clutter, why I removed the speedo. I only have the phone in its place.

Yeah, I've looked at floats like that but I am really against modifing the tank and putting holes in it as I expect most guys would be. The key for me is that adding the gas gauge needs to be non-invasive to the tank. EFI that's easy -- you monitor the injector and since you know(or could calculate) the amount of fuel per ms, you can do the math and figure it out. Carb requires a different approach and I think I found the snesor that will work.
Even if I disegin a unit with a gauge, the gauge will be optional and bluetooth is most likely to be built in regardless as it would allow an extra warning to beep your phone on a low fuel indication.

The caveat to all this, is this will be a fuel used system -- not a real current fuel in tank. SO fill up will bemandatory when you reset gauge (manually like reset trip odometer). With addition of tapping the speedo sensor (planned) you'll get MPG, est Miles to EMPTY as well as gallons used - subtracted from gallons (known values) full for the bar graph display.
