Please excuse my maybe mad question - but what do I have to put into the tank instead of the BD paint saver? The OEM Harley one? Will aftermarket HD gas caps fit in there?
Is it easy to get out the BD paint saver? Or can I damage the tank/paint?

More than likely, you will have paint damage after removing the paint saver ring.
the reason being that the paint saver is held in place by means of JBWeld liquid metal putty, which will take some heat and torque with a special tool to break loose. the heat will soften the paint and the torquing will probably tear the paint.

I'm asking because I read here in the forums that there are several guys who have real problems with their apint bubbling around the fuel cap on 08 BD models. I want to avoid this as I'm without warranty here in Germany.....
