gas cap (locking style)

Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone knows if there are locking gas caps available for '07 Mastiff. I was reading that gas caps with protruding parts are not preferred in case you get in an accident -- then has more of a chance to explode. While a keyed cap doesn't protrude I was wondering about a locking style. While I am on that subject does anyone know if you can install a gas gauge on the bikes?? The bike just has a trip on the odometer:confused: gauge would be nice. Thanks guys/gals

Um, I wouldn't worry about the accident part, you'll be off the bike anyway, the tank exploding is about the last thing I'd be worried about.

Never seen a locking one, I DO however have a locking gas cap on my honda street bike and I hate it, I just changed it to a NON locking type because it's a pain in the ass to have to pull the key, open it etc. with gloves on.

Finally, you should get 120 miles before reserve, go for a ride and test it, but that's pretty close for most of us, some more on the straight highway.

Good luck

I'm with ya pro... when I changed the gas cover on the HD, I installed a push style button... it can either be locked or left un locked, which is how I leave it...

gas gauge? drill a nipple in the top of the tank and one at the bottom and run some clear gas tube and you can see how much you have left. Only way I know of.

Hummm.... this subject has been in my mind for awhile.... Sometimes, when leaving the bike unattended, I am worrying about some jealous asshole throwing some shit in my gas tank... it would REALLY piss me off...

Are there any locking gas caps in the market for our Dogs?

Thanks

I second that.

I am told that if you remove the paint saver, this cap works well. It is lockable also. Someone on the 4m here has one of these, but don't remember who. Flush Mount Gas Cap | Chrome | Küryakyn
Thanks Armad,
In that page it states fits "All H-D screw type tanks from '82-'12"... so, correct me if I am wrong... do this means any Gas Cap that fits 82-2012 HD models would fit the Dogs (removing the paint saver first, of course)?

I really liked those, thanks for posting. Now we just need to verify the question above, if they really fit, and if they really fit the K-9 tank.....
I looked back in my posts and found the member who has the cap I referred to in my previous post. He is: chili08k9 As his forum name implies he has a 08 K9 and it fit his tank. So I would assume, if you remove the paint saver, it would fit and would also accept a Harley cap screwed directly into the tank bung.
