Getting ready to take the dog out shopping for some of the above mentioned items. Thought I would adjust the carburetor first. I really need to address this clutch cable issue. I would ultimately like to go hydraulic. Until then I’m wondering if anyone has addressed the bracket versus plastic covering issue?
While shopping, you may want to call Curtis for his rocker box geometry correction shims. Re. Tp boxes to S&S heads.

It seems to me these brackets were positioned too far apart causing a bind. For today I think I’ll run it without the top bracket.
Reposition them to ur liking. Clutch cable can dry out making them a pia. Lube up ur cable

I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about Mick. But I am sure it’s important.
John has noticed you have TP rocker box's. They have been known to have geometry issues on the S&S heads. He is suggesting you order a set of shims when you chat with Curtis @ WSW. Do some searching on the TP rocker box's.

Well I guess I have a ways to go. Is that toilet paper rocker boxes? I looked at them and don’t see a problem. Maybe I don’t wanna know. I would like to know what WSW is. Thank you Hman.

TP is Total Performance. They build custom motorcycle engines. For a while BigDog was assembling S&S engines with Total Performance rocker assemblies. There were some issues. WSW is Wildsteedworx. Shop in California whose owner (Curtis) has shim kits to correct the problems that some owners of the bikes with the TP rockers were having. Hope this helps! :chopper:

Drag batteries are on the list also.
Deka batteries are hard to get around these parts right now. Lowes is back ordered. Found one on eBay but it is dated January 2021. Picked one up at O’Reillys with the same part number. It’s a different brand but they said it was the same battery. Here’s the kicker. I put a full charge on the new battery this morning. My battery tester says it has 13 V. I tested my old drag specialties battery with no charge on it and it tested 13.5 V. I’ll probably return the O’Reilly battery and wait till Lowe’s gets the deka back in stock. Oh and I did a load test on the new battery and it went down to 12.5 V.

Another option is "Bikers Choice", a dealer, wholesale operation, (you'll need to go through a P&A shop that deals with them), seems to have a decent line of batteries. I've used several, and as of yet NO PROBLEMS.

I picked up one of those lithium jump boxes until I get this sorted out. Thanks guys. Did another hundred mile run. The clutch cable is much happier with just one bracket for now. Picked up some more polishing goodies. I’ll have to order some more online. I might as well have every product made just like you guys. The front fork seals aren’t weeping since I sprayed that silicone in there. Good tip. 7688AEB3-DE04-4010-9652-39B95072CB68.jpeg

Holy stinking guano Batman. Thank you for the huge heads up John. Sorry for calling you Mick, I was a little baffled by all the responses. I don’t know how I missed this issue in my research. Seeing as my bike isn’t even broken in yet it is now parked until I figure this out. Poor rocker alignment and cheap valve guides is a huge red flag for me. Thanks John for having the cojones to bring it up.
