Front tire removal

I'm looking at rays excellent front tire removal howto.

My manual under chassis->wheels shows the entire wheel assembly except the axle + axle bolt

Which side is the axle bolt I need to loosen up on? The break side? Standard thread? No matter how yank the damn thing I can't get it to budge.

ok scratch that.. I just had to flip a few more pages over. Had all the info I needed under the forks section (duh). Dunno how I missed that one.
