Front Brake Question

I have a 2004 Pitbull.
My front brake lever, seems to always have a little slop.
Where as, it does not retract all the way back, after pressing the hand lever.

Anyone have suggestions on how to correct this issue?

Your master cylinder pushrod should push the lever back out. How long has it been since you have lubed the pivot points of the lever. They can dry out and cause resistance.
Also, is your front brake spongy? If so maybe you need to bleed the front brake or at a minimum rebuild with the front master cylinder kit.

That should fix you up.

Thanks for the reply raywood.
Just had my 10,000 mile service 60 days ago.
Brake was bleed at that time and I assume lubed.
Brake is not spongy at all.

What is entailed to rebuild the master?

Simple kit. It includes the spring that retracts the piston. I wouldn't count to much on ensuring your dealer did everything the book calls for on the 10,000 mile service. The master cylinder kit would force you to break integrity on the sealed brake system and after you rebuild the cylinder you will have to fill and vent the system again.

Not to difficult.

Maybe try lubricating the pivot point a bit first? Worked for me.
That might fix it if it's not too far gone.

Same thing happened to me, at first I thought my pad was worn.
But I needed to rebuild my front master cylinder.

I bought a rick doss 5 .8 master cylinder rebuild kit.
Had to cut the spring just a hair because his master cylinder is longer then the bigdog. but the parts (simple as they are) seemed better quality.
