fried cam sensor

My cam sensor burned out so I ordered a new one from Big Dog. My bike is a 1999 prosport, the sensor they sent was for 2004 and newer but they said it would work. It lasted about 10 miles before going bad. I thought it was the sensor. I searched and found a sensor for my year and it lasted about 3 blocks. Does anyone know what could be killing my cam sensor ?

Have you checked your voltage when bike is running at half throttle. Maybe more than 13- 14 volts?

Pull the voltage off and look at the back of it. If it looks like it was on fire and melted time for a new one. What brand name cam sensors are you getting?
