MY SPEEDO WENT OUT LAST NIGHT!:bang: :bang:   THANK GAWD FOR DAWG WARRANTIES but I'm really not interested in replacing it every 6000 miles.

Did you have the new thicker bracket installed, the boot up reflashed, and is the programming plug removed and a Gortex cover on the hole? If not, this has fixed mine, 8K later and no more issues.

Bud of mine bit the bullet and bought one direct from autometer (without the bigdog logo) just so he wouldn't have to keep taking it back to the dealer and guess what he hasn't had any issues with it yet. Autometer will replace them much quicker if needed. Something to think about after your warranty is up.

LOL...no. Can't say that I have. The question is...why would we have to do all that to just make a speedometer work. Not like we pay all our arms and legs for these bikes. It should have a mechanic come out from under it and fix it for us! However, I'll quit bitching and do those things. Thanks for the help!

Just curious what other problems have you had with the speedo and is it not working at all now?

Did everything die on the speedo or just the speed part? Does anything work on the gauge?

My speedo makes a dam ticking noise when I accelerate.
Someone told that they had that problem before but I forgot who it was and how to fix.

Do all of your speedo's seem accurate? Our speed limit is in kilometers, but i know how to compensate for miles per hour. I've been out riding with an 07 Harley and an 05 Victory, and they both said i was speeding. At 60km/hr is equal to 40miles/hr. When they are doing 60km/hr., i am only doing 32 miles per hour. Could my speedo be out that much?

Inermittent speedo

Anyone have expierience with a speedo that is accurate, but will quit after about 5 miles then come back on and off For the rest of the day. I do believe it's in the wiring harness under the seat. If the harness is disturbed, speedo acts differently for a few days then back to the same.Anyone got a schematic for an "04 Mastiff? Live to Ride. Rick:hi:

I wonder what changed with the speedo's. Mine (2002) has been fine, and I don't seem to read about other people with older dogs having problems, though ours are autometers as well. It seems like whatever BD "improved" for the later models should be "unimproved" until they work again!

07BigDog,

There is an easy way to change from MPH to KPH so that you can be showing the proper systems, then if it is off, it can be field calibrated by user. If you have a Service Manual it should be in there as Sul indicated, if not, it may be time to look into getting one. Also I will see if I can dig up the procedures, but my SM is 05-06 so not sure if there was a change on 07.

So here's the update on the speedo issue. It started working upon firing the bike up last Friday to head to Red River NM Rally. I'm cruising down the highway and the freaking rocker box gasket starts dumping oil out. So I get that fixed when I get to Taos and then WHAMO on the way home my speedo sticks at 120 MPH. I take it in this week and my salesman at BDM Deallership, points at the 120 where it's stuck and says maybe this is about where you hit 4th gear when it quit asshole! Oh maybe, but that doesn't have a thing to do with it! LOL

Maybe I just went thru a black hole. The same town I first discovered the oil leak on the way out was the same town the speedo quit on the way back! Hmmmm coincidence...I think not!

But, I will tell you...my BDM Dealer has my bike and repairing everything already getting me ready for my trip to AUSTIN! OKC Thundercycles kicks azz! Should be picking Lola up tomorrow to continue to roll on down the highway!:2thumbs:

Man girl, you're rolling aren't you! I hope they get it all together for you in time, I know of NO dealership here in Michigan that could/would take care of that in time!
Happy rollin' to you and Lola,
Al
