Does anyone know why there are so many frame side plates for sale? Overstock? Are they prone to bending?

Don't know. By, so many frame side plates for sale, do you mean that clearance sale that was posted the other day for Big Dog parts, or something more than that? Design changes, no more reason to stock a given shape; we could guess all night. Bending - when hit by a car or something. Never heard of one bending riding down the road or otherwise induced by something it was not designed for?
Reasonably sure if there were a design flaw, we'd know about it in the form of a forced recall of a lot of bikes wouldn't ya think?

I've seen them on Ebay many times and sold as overstock. Probably fabed up too many.

Or are you referrring to the battery box plastic side covers? Just wondering what your referring to.

Yes, those side plates, the ones welded to the frame, left and right, swing arm bolts to.

I have always thought that there is a reason eBay-ers have all these BD parts, I believe that somewhere along the receiving process they didn't conform to visual, form, fit or function inspections.
At the prices BD or any OEM charges for parts why would they discount them out to the eBay crew for pennies on the dollar.
