Frame engine swap

Hi all
It been quite a while since my last post been busy trying to keep the dirt out of my face..
I have a 2005 Big Dog Chopper right-side-drive .. S&S 117 6 speed

(Mostly nothing big dog left on it all new electric, new autoclutch, new tins,
Front end etc)


So far everything I have replaced on my big dog has been proprietary as you all know

I want to do an engine out to a new frame like a hardtail or even another softail

so my questions are as follows

1. has anybody taken the BDM
Engine tranny combo (RSD S&S 117 & 6 speed) and put it in
an aftermarket frame hardtail or softail

2. what kind of adapters or issues do have to make/buy

3. What frame did you use..

(hopefully someone's going to tell me just a direct swap to anything frame that takes an S&S motor)

I haven't made the conversion but looks like you might have to re-weld the mounts where you need them. also, glad to see you're keeping the dirt outta your eyes, very important. Welcome back.

No frame will work with the BigDog trans you have. Motor can go in any Harley EVO style frame.

You can buy a Harley trans and primary pretty cheap if your dead set on a new frame.

Can I ask why you want a different frame?

$$$$$$ is what your going to need to complete this project . If you do this be prepared to spend allot

Because when I bought this motorcycle from a motorcycle dealer used I didn't realize it had a salvage title..

Plus both rear wheel adjusters are broke off inside the wishbone part of the frame near impossible to get out

Because when I bought this motorcycle from a motorcycle dealer used I didn't realize it had a salvage title..

Plus both rear wheel adjusters are broke off inside the wishbone part of the frame near impossible to get out

That does make it hard not sure on your state laws but TX allows you to get a rebuilt title needs to pass an ASE tech safety inspection. No idea how hard it is to pass, I can't imagine they can look for much but then again I'm not sure if they would be liable after then I would bet it's a lot harder cause the guy would be trying to save his job

Friend of ours has a shop, he did a custom frame and used BD drivetrain, here's a couple pics.
