Forward Extensions - Extending Brake Line

Thanks to all the responses to my email regarding the forward extensions for tall folks. I plan on going with the 5" extensions as I hate being cramped. That being said, has anyone gone with DM Ironworks 5" extensions and is it difficult to modify the brake line and shift rod?

wouldn't swear to it but i think it all comes as a kit. check with them to make sure.

It is required by the owner to purchase a longer brake line to make the 5" extension kit work. Damn. Anyone know the length and size I would need for a 2007 Pitbull?

Brake line and shift rod extensions came included in my DM 5 inch kit. Check with them before you buy.

Did anyone that did this extension have to bleed the brakes in order to get the brake line extension installed? If so, anyone know the easy steps to do this? I know to use DOT5 fluid but not sure how to bleed and keep air out, etc.

Anytime you mess with brake lines you need to bleed the brakes. The littlest amount of air will cause problems. They bleed like any motorcycle brake system. Dot 5 can be bought at autozone

Stand - I'm green to most mechanical work. I design and build buildings (architect), not motorcycles, so cars and bikes are pretty foreign to me. However, I like getting my hands dirty and would love to do this myself - I just need to know how. That being said, is there someplace on this forum that will walk you through the steps of bleeding the rear brake line? I have no idea where to even begin.

There's a service manual posted on here somewhere. Do a search and if you can't find it, I'll send you some info.

A Mityvac brake bleeder system will make the job super easy....just my two cents.
