Fork Tubes

Well thanks to Gasman (and Ray) I was able to tear down my front end to change the fork seals. Thanks to Gasman, I also found a rough spot the size of a quarter on one of the upper tubes. Tried to polish it out but its too rough. Now looks like I'm buying a set of upper tubes.

Found a set at Strokers here in Dallas. The problem is they are 1/2" longer than the stock tubes. My question is will a 1/2" be an issue on my 04 Chopper? I spoke to one of the guys at Strokers and he said that it wouldn't be an issue and I would barely notice the difference if I noticed it at all.. These tubes are in stock the "stock" tubes would have to be ordered and are about $75 more. Any thoughts?

Don't worry about a 1/2". Should be no issues. Check your neck bearings while you have it apart.

Hey Gas, What about the springs? Need to get the appropriate spring to accomodate the extra 1/2 inch right? And yes it helped alot..dammit. Have so many projects going, Im having to do them in shifts..Just tore down the kiddo's transmission and re workin it too. He's going to take some ownership in that project. Maybe he will appreciate it a little bit more!

Well your springs wouldn't be as compressed so it would change that as well. Good point.

I would just get the proper length tubes.

of coarse you could just replace the spacer above the spring with one 1/2" longer... that would fix the spring issue with the longer tubes.

Finally got her all back together..minus the front fender for the time being. Went with the stock tubes. Only issue I had putting things back together was quickly cleared up with a quick phone call to my good friend Ray.. Thanks again Ray.. A Big thanks to Gas on the how too.. i actually set my computer up in the garage and walked thru each step...

Don't know if the ones off my 2007 K9 are the same but I don't need them anymore now that I have my springer. If they will fit, make me a offer.
