I just replaced the tubes, bushings, and seals last winter. Why would I have a puddle again after 1 year and 1000 miles? I do clean work. Very careful. Installed correctly. Is this an every 1 -2 year deal?

Did you:
a. Cover the end of the tube with a sandwich bag [kind of mm] thickness; that acts as a condom so as not to cut the seal when placed over the tube's end?
b. Cover your lips over the tube's surface; find tiny rises of rust caused by the water down in the pores of the chrome finish and filed those down smooth?
c. Cover your ass and look for a worn slider sleeve that is opening a gap at the seal lip; it's rubbed out of tolerance?

Wasn't there a thread on here about making a tool from a thin piece of plastic and cleaning the crud out from behind the seals?

I did all this stuff! Used the condom, etc. Made the install tool from PVC. Oh well - its really not a biggy. Once you dig into it, its a pretty ez job. I even put new tubes on it so no pitting. Cleaned it all up perfectly. I'm hoping the parts quality isn't the issue because I prefer to pay much more for good parts than save a buck and do it over. Thats ok - its a cool winter project to keep me off the couch!

owner's manual says every 10k but i recommend every 8.5k if anybody asks. 1k sounds like you've got sandpaper in the forks.
