Fork Oil - Leaking. Normal?

My '07 Bulldog has just a minimal amount of oil that has "leaked out". I found a few little splatters of it on my front fender, front wheel, and the right fork.

Is this normal as it's just a little bit of fluid? Or, should I be concerned about it?

It's not normal like that. But where is it coming from? Also how many miles on the forks? It may be time for a fork rebuild.

Is it wet on the fork tubes? Most likely for seals. I ahev replaced mine a coulpe of times. If you have them replaced I would also replace the bushings also since they have to be torn apart. I ran mine leaking for a while till I could get it tore down, just had to keep wiping the oil off every once in a while. Wouldnt let it go too long though

Guys - my bike only has 3500 miles on it.... would think it was far from time to have to rebuild. But then again, it IS leaking.

The leak is coming from the point at which I am pointing in the attached picture...

You're just hard on your dog, that's all! Must be jumping it like Evil Knievel! :lol::lol::lol:

Give Frank a call for parts, go ahead and get the bushings too. Or send them to him and he'll do it for you for some extra change! :2thumbs:

To the guys that have bad Fork seals....
Does your Dog ride on a trailer / or in back of a truck?

When you tie your dog down (Strap) how tight are you going? How much are you compressing your forks?

I have seen a seal blow out under to much tie down. good point. More ties and less tension on each. :hi:

I'm not understanding that theory. The spring carries most of the load. I can see the bushing taking a little more abuse just due the extra spring load. Not thinking it would effect a fork seal. My bushings were worn and seals going south at 7k. Wouldn't surprise me if you live in an area with crappy roads.

Think about bugs and road grime that get stuck on the forktubes and then getting pushed through the seals. Also from the rake on the forks, I could see that wearing them also.

My bike NEVER gets trailered.

I NEVER ride on bad roads.

I guess I just have bad luck.

I want to replace the seals myself following Gas's how to - but my forks are inverted and I'm not sure how that is going to change the process... any ideas?

Anyone know the part numbers for rebuilding the 54mm inverted front end? [2004 Bulldog]

I've searched here but can't find the part numbers.
