For you guys that do your own maintance have you ever had a problem getting warranty work done? I am like you I like to change me own oil and do my own maintance. It is just such a pain in the ass to go through all the hassel of taken your bike up to the shop. Plus, they do charge too much to do simple things. I have even heard the horror stories on this form about the dealers even messing up stuff on their bikes. I am looking at buying a brand new K-9 but don't want to void the two year warranty. Let me know if anybody has any experience with this.

Another round please
Doing your own oil changes won't void a warranty. Mods to the motor will. My belt drive voided mine. Bullshit, but what could I do.

i actually was told when i bought my bike that if i did all my own maint.they couldnt warranty anything, but they backed off when i told them that was illegal,i just had to show it had been done.so save all your receipts on your oil and stuff.they have done the recalls and a couple other warranty repairs and it did seem like my bike would take a lot longer than it should have been.you will save a lot of money and know it got done if you do it yourself

Ok, well it seems like oil changes isn't a big deal. It seems like they have a little more extensive 5,000 and 10,000 mile maintance cost. Is there anything you would have a dealer do so they don't try and use an excuse not to warranty repairs? The dealer I bought my bike from asked someone from big dog this question I asked. The big dog rep didn't say no but also didn't say yes that they would cover warranty issues if you do your own maintance it said it is up to rhe dealer. Does anyone have any experience with a big dog dealer in Houston, TX about this issue?
