floating vs. non-floating

Have a question on floating rotors. Is it mandatory that I replace the rear rotor with a floating or can I change to a non-floating? Are there advantages one way or the other?

You can use a non-floating. Just make sure the caliper is properly shimmed to center the rotor in the caliper. You'll never know the difference.

Not sure about that. They may be floating to combat brake pad knockback but I don't know that for a fact.

My 05 chopper has floating rotors front and back. My question is that my 08 harley has non floating rotors and I don't get pad kickback. Still a little confused.

You can put solid on, it won't make a difference. Not sure why BD uses floating on some, and not on others, but it's nothing to sweat about. I just put solid polished stainless on a mastiff and a K9 with no ill effects. Both had floating.
