Flashing tach lights

The battery is a Deca ETX20L installed a year ago and goes on the tender when it sits for longer periods. When I start her up (whether it sat on the tender or not) I sometimes get flashing lights in the tach while idling. Once I snap the throttle the flashing stops and everything goes back to normal. Do I have a weak stator, bad connections, or a bad battery?

If battery, what is the battery to buy now?

If stator, what is the stator to buy now?

If bad connections, where is it most likely to be?

It's a warning for low idle rpm...
Per service manual:
"If the engine is running below 900 rpm for more than 5 seconds the tach LED's will flash".

Made me get the book out Jack Azz!!

Mine did the same thing...I had to look it up too and thought it was something serious....but my idle was just low....tuned it, hasn't flashed since!

Didn't know about the 4 way flash, now I do! Thanks everyone! Learn something new every day.....

Since the engine sounds just fine at low idle and it only happens when the engine is cold I just left it as is. With Jack Azz looking it up, I now know that I have nothing to worry about and couldn't care less if they flash a little bit when cold....

Took it out for a few hours today running errands and loved every second of it. Bike season is just about to take off down here and the weather is awesome.

That's right and normal, mine does exactly the same.... I leave her warming up for a couple minutes with the throttle at around 1500 rpm (cruiser mate lever) and then its all good to go. :2thumbs:

This is a good reason to have a cruise mate. The other not so good reason is so you can ride with no hands down the road!

Hey, Franco, we have a bunch of jackass is that like to putt-putt the oil pressure under 10lbs so could you flash them a signal say out to those ass holes, I mean tach light? Sure, let me time the 555 timer against that tick-over speed vs my speed. I'm going to write the code right now. No shit, could you run a resistor so that flips the flop? Why, that's what I was going to do. Who the fuck is building the warning lights on, me or you?

Low idel below 900 rpm Is bad for the motor. The oil pump is not designed to give enough oil pressure that low. That's why it is a WARNING!
