SKOGDOG
One of the old ones.
Had to replace a head gasket. The K9 was gonna be down for a while, so went ahead and sent the tins to be painted. I thought it could be a bit brighter, but guess it looks pretty good for a 35,000 mile K9.....
Took about a month for the tins...props and a tip o'the hat to my touring buddy Blacktopper for his mechanical skills and for letting me use his shop.
It's interesting how you guys always encourage newbies to jump in and work on these bikes. I had some skills, but at first was reluctant to do much but change oil.
My skills have greatly improved thanks to the Forum resources, that trusty BDM manual, and Blacktopper.
And you know we can always count on our K9's to to do their part by contributing a challenging array of mechanical puzzles. As a result I no longer fear tires, brakes, rotors, heads, jugs, and generally anything from the left side. And you are right about the sense of satisfaction and accomplishment, to say nothing of flat rate$$ savings for shop repairs...
And I have come to really enjoy the process of the work itself. I know this is true because it seems like I always wind up doing each job twice!
Thanks for the Forum, and keep safe.
