flaking chrome

My 08' k-9 with the factory chrome package is having a little problem. After only having my bike for 1 week gretchen noticed my rear wheel flaking just a little bit. After 1 month a lot of chrome is missing from
rear wheel. Now that my bike is 2 months old the front wheel, front rotor rear wheel and rear rotor are all falling apart. Thanks to mike in Tampa, and jeremy at Tratta's every thing is being covered under warranty. I understand shit happens, but so many pieces so soon. The bike is in key west, but is cleaned more than ridden. Any one else had issues with chrome?

Hate to say this but chrome over aluminum doesn’t stick so well. The salt air will also play a roll in chrome flaking. But they shouldn’t be flaking already. I’m glad to hear that the parts are covered under warranty. Mike and the parts guys @ TBD should be able to take care of your problems for you. Will they be sending the parts to your local dealer?

mike @ TBD and jeremy at eddie tratta's have ben great! Usually in the salt you get surface rust then, it falls apart. I'll see what happens with the new stuff. Our 05 HD had lots of chrome and no issues, so I'm hoping the it was just a bad batch of chrome.

It was. Or contamination on the parts before chroming. It will all work out for you.

Check your forks closely! Someone else on here had peeling forks. You only have 6 months warranty on chrome.

Yes. Be sure to all of your chrome over. Get it all fixed at one time.

I had a lot of chrome issues with my 05, including rocker covers, turn signals, fork brace, mirrors and headlight. BDM took care of me really well, although some things they had to replace twice. I had thought they had changed who did their chrome and fixed the problem. Good luck with it and like Daddycool said you only have six months.
