Flake in the clear

Howdy, I have taken my tins down to the paint to clear the scratches out of the camping trips this year and want to spice it up a bit I think. I want to put some flake in the clear. I am thinking of a few options.

1. flake the whole tins in translucent clear not candy.
2. flake just the flames and leave the rest of the scheme navy blue.
3. gold leaf the flames and flake the rest of tank and tins.
4. If I were to use a candy what color. I was thinking are either gold with a honey candy. I think this goes with the Navy blue pretty good.
Open for any and all ideas.

Use a frost, it's a lighter flake, and do the whole thing in clear with no candy. You can get the frost in a lot of colors. I used a silver frost over the black, then painted the smoke in white over that. Then I used an air brush to apply the green candy just over the white and a little bit around it to give it a glowing effect, but left the rest silver. You won't be able to see any candy you apply over the black, ( with no frost) but it will change the color of you flames. You can see in the example of the red and silver checkers, then the color change with wild cherry over then.

NICE! I was thinking of doing a honey or lighter gold color flake to bring out the orange and yellowish highlights of the flames, but will still work with the navy blue base. Its tough to see but its navy blue not black. I will definitely look into the frosted flakes... sorry had to. Thanks for the good advice and that some nice work.
