First ride with bandit

Finished bandit clutch and carrier install yesterday. First ride today. Man what a difference. I see why everyone has good things to say about them. Thanks to John at bandit for answering all my questions.

Feels much tighter. More responsive, even on downshifts. Plus it only takes two fingers to clutch it now.

ordered mine today,, after all the reviews I should have done it 2 years ago, run into any problems on install or adjusting clutch rod? find neutral easier? did u have to grind outside primary cover?

I would strongly recommend using a dial indicator to get the pushrod/cable adjustment perfect and check runout. It can be done by feel but it sure helped me to see what I was getting out of it instead of guessing. Calipers also come in handy to measure stack installed height. It does shift easier and neutral is easier to find. I've always had a problem finding neutral from first. I have to find it from second. That hasn't changed but I can get it on the first try now instead of the third. I did clearance the outer cover according to bandits instructions. Plus I also clearanced for the clutch plate bolt heads. I had a little rub issue there. It was no big deal. 4" angle grinder makes quick work of aluminum. Little brake cleaner and its all good.

I also went ahead and replaced my cable and pulled the ramps and rod out, cleaned and greased.

I also replaced my stock carrier with bandits billet carrier. Read lots of posts about the stock carrier cracking. Figured I'd do it too while I was in there.

Biggest difference is how much easier the pull is and how much tighter it feels over stock. It's noticeable.

I couldn't be happier with it. Worth every penny.

Thanks to several OP's here too. I referenced several posts to get me through the install. And tapped bigdogtech01 for some trans questions I had.

I am in the middle of changing mine out as I write.....what did you have to do to make clearance for clutch plate bolt heads???? I have read and see the removal of some aluminum on the outer cover, but musta missed info about bolt clearance....

It's not normal to have to do that. John at bandit said he had never seen that before. I wouldn't worry about it unless its an issue for you once its together. Are you doing carrier also? Pm me if you need anything. I took lots of pics. And of course there's a wealth on info on here already.

One .050. I tried one .050 and one .025 for .075 but I couldn't get enough release out of it. I got .075 release with the one .050. I could only get .055-.060 release with both shims in and bandit says .070 is minimum required.

I'm very curious what others have encountered because the clutch comes with a lot of shims. I couldn't imagine getting enough release with several shims in place.

which ball n ramp are you using? does anybody know if the easy-pull ball n ramp will disengage the clutch pack enough, or should i use the original ramp???got both

John at bandit told me the 9 plate ramps will not provide enough release with the bandit clutch. He says they typically only see about .055 release with the 9 plate ramps.

I'm at (2) .050 shims and pull is equal to stock clutch. I'm going to (1) .050 shim. My horsepower modifications are not radical and I ride it pretty easy. Keith
