finally

Energy One
DO you know the part number or make and manufacturer of the coil?
Two bike shops claimed no knowledge of the coil I need.
I even showed it to them

Why can't you just go down to the HD place and get a standard dual fire coil. Shouldn't be any problems.

i took the coil off of my bike and went to 7 diferent bike shops including 1 harley dealer 2 that specialise in harleys and customs 1 metric shop and a big dog dealer and all of them told me they had never seen a coil this small. i did see the same setup i have on a 99 pro sport but the guy would not remove the coil so i could see if it had a part num or manufacture. i think this may be the main problem why i cant ride my bike and it is really ticking off the wife that i bought a bike to decorate the shed haha. i need all the help yall can offer.

I wish I had more money.
Is there anyway you can take a picture of this thing? Post up a picture of this thing and we can possibly help you a little more.

i contacted big dog and they gave me a part number dc6-1 dyna. i got the coil and there is no way to mount it without totally relocating it or having it stick out there and look like shit. i assume bd used a different coil then they said for this bike because i say the same coil on the 99 pro sport.

i think i might have figured out what coil i have. i think its a MDS motorcycle coil small blaster pn 4573. is there a problem with me useing this coil with the stock thunderheart ignition?

I was at the shop today and my parts guy broke it down for me.. The deal is that to use the newer coil like the one I have or that you would buy you need a little bracket. It is an adapter of sorts. It costs 15 to 20 clams. You attach it to your bracket and then your bracket will hold the new coil. He says that it is a snap. That being said if you want it the shop is Gateway Bigdog here in the St. Louis area. The number is 314-291-6333 ask for Ryan and tell him that it is in reference to the coil set up that Mike Mayhall talked to him about. He is pretty squared away when it comes to things like this and will answer your questions without a bunch of hubbub. If he can't answer you straight up he will tell you. Good luck. If I were you I would just get the bracket from them and take this coil. It will be cheaper in the short or long haul.

i met a guy yesterday at the bike shop that had a 01 wolf. he showed me how his coil was set up. which i guess bd changed between 00 and 01. he has a machine shop so he offered to machine out my cover in the same way his was done at the factory. and even said he would do it for free or whatever i felt like paying. He was very helpful. wish i had known there was a change between 00 and 01 and why they changed. so hopefully i can start reassembling my bike tomorrow and then get back to working the jets so i can take the dog instead of my honda on a upcoming ride i have planed.

i installed the new coil tonite. i put the 32 and 74 jets back in the carb and forgot to tighten the carb to intake bolt down. when i started the bike it ran good but had a fast idle. i remembered the carb bolts and tightened them and as soon as i got them tight the bike died. why would the bike die when i stoped a air leak at the carb? am i flooding the motor with gas and it needed the extra air to handle it?

First thing that comes to mind is if you hooked up the enrichener properly. If not then it might be pushed up flooding the motor. Check it out and let us know.

I went from a vt1100 ace to 06 ridgeback and it was a trip. The low-end torque on these bigdogs is something. Congrats on your bike. Have fun and be careful.

no the enricher is in right. all i did was tighten a carb bolt and stopping that air leak made the bike die. like its not geting enough air or way to much fuel at idle. fixing to go jack withit some more in a minute. thanks for the reply think im just typing to my self here sometimes. haha

well still having problems. rode the bike about 30 miles sunday morning without a single hickup then sunday evening went for bee and it died 15 times within 20 miles. got it out again monday and it went another 40 miles without a problem. tuesday morning it died twice within the first 5 miles and then ran great for the next 15 miles. could the thunderheart ignition be the problem? sure could use some help from some experienced bd owners.
